Cedar P. Carlton
Cedar P. Carlton advocates on behalf of employees throughout the region, including by litigating claims of sexual and racial harassment, and cases of discrimination on the basis of disability, sexual orientation, pregnancy, marital status, age, and personal appearance. In addition to her active litigation docket, Ms. Carlton has successfully negotiated a number of settlements on behalf of employees, including claims for discrimination, as well as a novel public accommodations case against Greyhound Bus Lines on behalf of a disabled client. Ms. Carlton also serves as counsel to the District of Columbia Public Employee Relations Board.
Ms. Carlton is an active member of the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA) and the Metropolitan Washington Employment Lawyers Association (MWELA). Ms. Carlton is Co-Chair of NELA's Sexual Harassment Committee, where she works to advance the legal rights of employees exposed to workplace harassment. Ms. Carlton is admitted to the Bar of the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, and the United States District Court for the District of Maryland.

Ms. Carlton earned her J.D., summa cum laude, from the American University Washington College of Law in May 2002. She earned her A.B. in Political Science from Stanford University in 1992, and an M.A. from New York University, Institute of French Studies in 1997. During law school, Ms. Carlton was employed as a legal intern at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and as a summer associate with the firm of Bredhoff & Kaiser. In 2002, Ms. Carlton received the Dean's Award for Professional Responsibility: Outstanding Student Clinical Program, for her work as a student attorney for the Washington College of Law International Human Rights Law Clinic.
