Jeremy P. Monteiro

Jeremy P. Monteiro dedicates his skills to consumer, employment, and commercial litigation with Webster, Fredrickson, Correia & Puth. Mr. Monteiro litigates cases on behalf of employees subjected to unlawful discrimination and harassment. As well, Mr. Monteiro works on behalf of consumers affected by unlawful and predatory lending under the Truth in Lending Act (“TILA”) and the Real Estate Settlement Practices Act (“RESPA”), unlawful debt collection practices under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (“FDCPA”) and unlawful credit reporting under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (“FCRA”), as well as various state statutes which prohibit the use of unfair and deceptive practices against consumers.

Prior to joining Webster, Fredrickson, Correia & Puth, Mr. Monteiro was in private practice at consumer protection law firms in Chicago, IL and Baltimore, MD.  Some of Mr. Monteiro’s reported decisions include: Briggs v. Provident Bank, 349 F. Supp. 2d 1124 (N.D. Ill. 2004); In re Ocean Bank Prescreening Litig., 481 F. Supp. 2d 892 (N.D. Ill. 2007); Miranda v. Universal Fin. Group, Inc., 459 F. Supp. 2d 760 (N.D. Ill. 2006); Bonner et al. v. Home123 Corp., 2:05-CV-146, 2007 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 18006 (N.D. Ind. Mar. 9, 2007); LaSalle Bank Nat. Assn v. Ziegler, 03 CH 7969, 2007 WL 1405350 (Cir. Ct. Cook Cty. Mar. 2, 2007; and Hernandez v. Chase Bank, N.A., 429 F. Supp. 983 (N.D. Ill. 2006).

Mr. Monteiro is admitted to practice law in the District of Columbia and State of Illinois. Mr. Monteiro is also admitted to Federal Bars in Maryland, the Northern and Central Districts of Illinois, Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana; Eastern District of Michigan, and Eastern District of Wisconsin. Mr. Monteiro has litigated matters before the Judicial Panel on Multi-District Litigation. Mr. Monteiro is an active member of the National Association of Consumer Advocates.

Mr. Monteiro earned his J.D., magna cum laude, order of the coif, from the DePaul College of Law in May 2003 and earned his B.A. in Political Science from St. John’s University (MN) in 1999. During law school, Mr. Monteiro published A Profile in Courage: The BiPartisan Campaign Reform Act of 2002 and the First Amendment, 52 DePaul L. Rev. 83 (2003) and also served on the Law Review Editorial Board.
